This Week at Winsor

Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank you to our families for an excellent round of conferences. If you were unable to attend and would like to speak with your child's teacher, please reach out directly. Communication is of paramount importance to us and we value our partnership

Holiday Season- Opportunities to Help

Our generous community always rallies around those in need. If you would like to again help the less fortunate, please consider donating to the Toy Drive. Donations for the Toy Drive can be dropped off at Winsor and are accepted to December 13th. In addition, we are looking for everyday items, such as cleaning products, laundry detergent, personal care products, cleaning products, and entertainment products for the Ronald McDonald House. Both of these drives are being led by students from Smithfield High School. Thank you in advance for your support.

Smithfield Education Foundation

On Friday, December 13th, the Smithfield Education Foundation is hosting the Ultimate Blaster Battle at Mastery Martial Arts on Cedar Swamp Road. The event runs from 7:00-9:30pm. The cost is $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional child. Pizza and refreshments are included. You can sign up at 231-5425. Space is limited so please call soon. Students will need to bring their own blaster to the event.

School Improvement Update

We continue to make progress on our School Improvement Plan. Our Responsive Classroom book study group has completed the text and discussion sections. Teachers have all been trained and have implemented the RC approach within their classrooms. Responsive Classroom creates a positive school experience for all students, builds social and emotional skills, and directly connects to our academic work, making for a connected community of learners. For those interested in Responsive Classroom, I encourage you to watch the video, linked below:

To learn more about how Winsor is using Responsive Classroom, please join us for our next SIT meeting on Thursday, January 16th at 3:15pm in the library.

VIP Training

In order to train potential volunteers, we are offering a VIP training on Monday, December 9th at 9:00am. Coupled with a current BCI, a VIP training allows for parents and family members to join their students on field trips and work on school grounds during special events. VIP training only takes about 15 minutes. We hope you can join us!
