Our Return From February Break

Welcome Back!

It was outstanding to see our students return this week. We quickly returned to our routines and students put forth outstanding effort. I had the opportunity to see our Grade 4 students in action during Fitness February today. The persistence and Growth Mindset evident was amazing! Please see our picture gallery below. Thank you to Mr. Marino for building our capacity for fitness, nutrition, and self- efficacy.

Town Meeting

Students that have demonstrated exemplary citizenship and a Growth Mindset were recognized at our Town Meeting today. Part of our culture entails building a belief in ourselves and in others. We seek to continuously build and grow a positive, interconnected culture where we strive to do our best and have empathy for others. Congratulations to the students that earned certificates today! In addition, students from SHS, representing the National Honor Society, came to speak to our school about donating gently used equipment to the Smithfield Little League. Please talk to your child or children about this and consider supporting this worthy cause.

Unification Meeting

Please join our Unification Team. Our next meeting is March 10th at the Central Office building. This important work will build a collaborative culture, forging new traditions with our soon to be partners at McCabe. We have begun our subcommittee work, but it is not too late to join us. We will meet at 6:30pm on the 10th and hope to see you there!

State Spelling Bee

If you are interested in seeing a fun, friendly competition, please attend the state spelling bee. This is being held at Lincoln Middle School on Saturday March 14th at 1:00pm.

Collins Writing Approach

Bill Atwood, a nationally recognized presenter, again worked with our staff in Grades 3-5 this week. This training continues to serve our students well and build our collective capacity to teach writing. For those interested in learning more about Bill and/or the Collins approach, please follow the link below.

Surveyworks remains open. Please consider providing feedback to us. This data helps inform our practices and is examined closely. Please contact me directly if I can answer any questions. The code for our school was recently emailed and can be provided again upon request.

SIT Plan

Please join us at our next School Improvement meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 23rd at 6:30pm in the library. We will review the final action steps from the 2019-2020 plan and develop a plan for the 2020-2021 school year. We look forward to seeing you then.

Please, for students in Grades 3, 4, and 5, be reminded that there is NO play rehearsal this Monday, March 2nd. Play practice will resume on March 9th. Thank you!

Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for being our partners in education.
